THE TYPE, SERVED FROM OUR OWN DOMAIN

30 September. Three reasons this stopped being a Google Fonts link.

   1. THE GDPR BADGE. Loading a font from fonts.googleapis.com sends every
visitor's IP address to Google before they have agreed to anything.
German courts have already called that an unlawful transfer, and we
are about to put a badge in the footer saying an external specialist
signed off our position. A badge over a page that quietly ships
visitor IPs to a third party is the sort of thing a buyer's
procurement team finds in ten seconds.

   2. IT IS FASTER. Three files, 96KB in total, on the same connection the
HTML came down. The Google version is two DNS lookups, two TLS
handshakes and a stylesheet that then asks for the fonts.

   3. THE GUARDS CAN SEE IT. Neither the build container nor Blake's Mac
can reach fonts.googleapis.com (the egress proxy answers 403), so
every rendering guard was measuring the site in a fallback system
font. It was measuring a page no visitor ever sees. Now the guards
and the visitor get the same letterforms.

Same three families, same weights, same look. Latin only, which is what
   a UK recruitment site sets.

face arrives a beat later. Over a local file that beat is nearly nothing,
and invisible text is worse than a flash of the wrong font. */
